Title: New awesome seat mod Post by Greg on 05/08/14 at 18:21:40 I just got my rider's seat back from Spencer's Motorcycle Seat Mods (http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php). I only put about 30 miles on it and what a difference! My crotch s no longer on the tank. I sit more in the seat. It feels like I sit rearward a little. And the foam doesn't smash so I sit a little higher. I got the full treatment for $75 plus shipping. Best money I have spent so far. I can't wait until the break in period is up. |

Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by ihasabike on 05/08/14 at 18:43:54 How is what they did different from the usual seat mod? http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1109035237 |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by Greg on 05/09/14 at 04:38:53 The foam is changed and the seat is sculpted to fit my butt. There is also a gel pad added. The original seat cover is retained. I still have the front lifted. |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by ihasabike on 05/09/14 at 06:09:44 Wow. From their website, I couldn't figure out how they custom fit it. Did you have to visit in person? |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by jgrandmont on 05/09/14 at 08:05:30 You ship it via UPS/FedEx and include a return shipping label in the box. From my home in Massachusetts, it was about a 6-day turnaround time. That included a weekend. |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by Greg on 05/09/14 at 08:14:37 They requested and I sent in photos of me sitting on the bike. This gives them an idea of where the pressure points are. My turnaround was 8 days (including weekend) because my seat's foam was soaked and he needed 2 days to dry it out. He says it is usually 2 days for them to do the work. The rest is shipping to and from Florida. |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by eruby on 05/15/14 at 07:07:15 What about the supports in the middle? Do I need them? Is everyone using them? Thanks. |

Are you referring to the seat lift mod? If so, I am not using any. I am a big boy. I have no issues. YMMV. If you are referring to the work Spencer's does, it is strictly the foam that is altered. |

Thanks Greg. Yes, I was talking about the lift mod. I too am a big boy. I used the #7 rubber stoppers to raise the front of the seat ~ 1". I was concerned about the flex in the middle of the seat - whether it would damage or break the seat. I looked for something at the hardware chain and didn't really find a solution. |
Title: Re: New awesome seat mod Post by Greg on 05/23/14 at 09:39:17 I had the same questions about the flexing when I did the seat lift. Some have put the adhesive coaster/carpet saver things to fill the space. The majority of my replies said not to worry about it, so I didn't. After a couple of years of hauling 300+ lbs around, the seat still seems fine. I must add that after a couple hundred miles on the new seat filling, it is a kabillion times more comfy. I still highly recommend it. |
