Title: Newbie question about the fuel petcock !
Post by cobra on 05/08/14 at 08:53:45

I bought a used savage 2001 and I don't know what direction to turn the petcock arrow. Like you all know on the valve you can see "fuel"
"on" "pri" and "res". I know wha the "res" is for but for normal driving I can only turn it to 3 positions, where should the arrow point, thanks

On...
Pri,.. means Prime.. it is constant flow instead of vacuum actuated... use it for draining the tank, or if for some reason, you think the float bowl might be completely empty... (just to start the bike, then set back to On...

straight down is "on"
handle forward will empty the "reserve"
handle rearward is "prime"
