Title: cheap fix for loose rear pulley
Post by lnewlf on 05/08/14 at 03:42:42

New owner here. So my rear drive pulley had some play in it. I fixed it with a squeegee... no really. I purchased a replacement squeegee rubber flap. Then I cut it into pieces to fit the outer edges of the wheel rubber gromets MAKE SURE THE ROUND PART IS TO THE OUTSIDE and the flat is facing in. Hold in place with a little silicone (rubber to rubber) then reassemble. No more play. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

Yep.....Some of us use floor mat rubber.

I used the squeegee because the rounded edge is larger for the exterior and thinner for the interior. This resulted in zero pulley play. I tried the rubber floor mat method first but still had a little play. Now if I could just dial in the BELT. The darn thing is going military on me left, right, left...etc.

Yep, I am going through that right now.  The belt is ever sol slighly up against the left side of the pulley, and I keep loosening my axle and moving the right forward about 1/8 turn at a time.....I am almost there and think I will have it in another time or two.

This winter I made an attempt to do a better solution to the wobbly pulley, and it involves machining a bushing for the pulley hub.  It seems to be working fine.  But the rubber works fine when you don't have access to a lathe.
