I installed the Harley muffler on my '96.

It was more work than I expected and a few minor cuts on the hands but it wasn't too bad.

I'm glad to be done with the stock. It is way too big and burned holes in my saddle bag.

It has that deep rumble sound. I may have to see about rejecting as I'm getting a little bit of back fire now, but overall I'm happy.

Now I have to make some new leather saddle bags! ;)

Looks great. I plan to tackle this on Saturday on my 06 with the tin an and cobra clamp+Heat shield. Did you need to buy any new bolts?

I had one that was the same diameter of the bolt on the old muffler. I only needed one. Make sure you have thick gloves when fitting the tin can.

Hi, Yes you do need a new bolt and nut. I just went through my collection of misfits and found one that worked.

Also a new heat shield if you want to cover the new connection. I ordered mine from eBay but I think you can get one from a Harley shop.

Looks nice. What heat shield is that you're using?

I installed a Dyno muffler on my '98 last month. I didn't rejet, and I noticed it to be a bit sluggish, so I rejetted up 1 stage. The performance improvement is noticeable after rejetting. (Now I need moar gears :)

I rejetted from 145 main to 147.5. I used 2 #4 washers to replace the white spacer (A little bit more than half the thickness.) I kept the pilot jet at 52.5.(I have to order the #55)

Next week I'll switch the main to 150 and see if that makes it go more varoomba.

It's been a while since I commented on my Nightrain/Low muffler, so--Serowbot put pictures in Tech under "Mufflers" for me, so ya'll can check there. It is exactly 1/2" shorter than stock on my bike. You need the muffler, a Dr Pepper can for gasket material, 1/4-20 bolt about 1' to 1 1/2", washer, stock muffler clamp, some kind of shield to cover the joint, and about an hour from tear down to crank up. The rear bolt on the muffler goes through the front hole on the Suzuki muffler bracket and the stock joint clamp keeps every thing good and tight. There are pics on here somewhere of my bike, but i don't know how to find them. Boofer
