Carbs aren't usually parted out... you'll probably have to buy a whole one...

If yer' lucky,.. you might find one with a boogered mix screw, or broked screw holes on the top, fer' cheap...

The only fastener going into the bowl that I know of is the drain and you can live without that, just plug it with something.  If you are referring to the threaded holes that the four bolts go into that secure the float bowl to the carb body there may be help for them also.  They go all the way through and some of them might have enough clearance on top for a nut.

Might hafta grind one side of the nuts off some to get them on,,Id say some 4/40 bolts would pin the thing up tight enuff..

These aren't high torque items, you can probably drill and tap a little bit bigger screw into the boogered up hole.  Also, JB Weld is drill and tappable. Fill up the old hole and tap a new one in. You don't have to take the float bowl off very often so even a self tapping screw would probably work to hold it tight enough.

S-P, you took the words right out of my mouth. Also a trip to an industrial fastener store with carb and bowl will likely score a self drilling/tapping screw because, as you say, it's not a high torque situation.

If you just need a bowl, I think I have one.  If I do, you can have it for just shipping cost.

Happened to me too (on 1998 Savage as well :-) ), I put the screw back in using some teflon tape (it never leaked), then had new threads made when it was time to clean the carb.

Sorry. I thought self tappers screwed in. We learned in the 60s to not jam anything on a UJM bike.  ;D

Self tappers do screw in, they cut their own threads.  If you run them in and keep screwing they'll ream out the threads in soft material. You just need to go slow.

There was a fix to this problem! I screwed in the drain plug and stuck it with glue (just the top threads were stripped wouldnt ever get tight.) and put gasket sealent on top of the plug in the hole and let dry. NO LEAKS and RUNS!! people with this issue just do this!! cheap easy fix!
