Title: rocker/tappit Q
Post by anebv8 on 04/26/14 at 23:18:01

so after a few months of walking around the bike, today I decided it was time to get it running again. After a cam and cam chain replacement months ago I had to reset the rocker/tappits due to the sound of them trying to get out of the motor was quite excessive.I got the rear ones quiet (using stethescope) but the front ones wern't playing ball. After digging out a torch,I noticed a small piece of metal is sitting on a rocker/tappit arm on the left side of the motor,it can be seen in the photo just "above" the nut. As ya can see it is actually a semi circle shape on one side,is this supposed to be there or is it supposed to be pushed back into the motor more?? Suppose it should be said it's an '86 LS650
P.S...sorry photo is poor quailty but it's taken via a cell phone  :P

Quiet? No one ever said the valves were quiet,, if its not makin noise now, it will later, when it dies.

The decompression shaft should not be touching the rocker when it is not activated.  Make sure it is adjusted properly, and that the spring is rotating the lever away from the direction the cable pulls.

as quiet as a single should be (like it was before the cam chain needed chaging  :) )
