Just took my first ride yesterday. Started as a 2006 with 327 miles on it! It was a fun winter project . I also did my wife's 650 vtar in similar fashion over the winter.

nice and clean bobber,  :o
I'm in the middle of my bobber build too.I'm more into late '70 suzuki gs than bobber but the savage really stand out has a bobber.
I really like the gator, are they ''general'' boots?
Marc

Nice job. I'd love to build some sort of bobber someday.

By boots I guess you mean tires ? they are dirt cheap shinko's  . I'll see  how they last. I wanted whitewall's but couldn't really find a rear tire .

Do you have specs on how you mounted the seat and what seat and bracket did you use?

red he's talking about the "gaiters" or fork boots. I'm also curious as all the old Brit bikes I owned had the fork boots and I really like the way they look on Savage.

Go to a 4x4 shop, buy Rancho shock boots in your choice of color, end of pitted lower tube issues. I need to get some black ones for the 03, and epoxy paint the sliders right before the gaiters get installed.

You can use the Emgo versions from any of the mail order places, but, they are not UV stable... mine lasted about 2 years and fell apart.

Any info or pics on how you mounted the battery, wiring, and seat.  Would love to do something like this on my 650

How hard was it to paint the engine black ?
Also did you paint it in the frame , how did you prep it ( sand it or some type of blasting ) and what sort of paint did you use ?
Cheers

that's a Blue Collar bobbers seat I am sure.  Modified install but most of their stuff is bolt-on.  Check out their website.
