Title: thumb décomp Post by mtlsir on 04/10/14 at 09:59:48 Hi, i wanted to know if someone with the thumb activated lever can give me some measure of the lever in question so i can make one, i don't have my savage at this moment and Ryca charge canadian order 29US $ for a small 25$ part... :D Thanks in advance for one who will take time! Title: Re: thumb décomp Post by kochic on 04/10/14 at 17:14:02 I assume you are from Montreal? I'm located near Joliette, I just ordered a header and muffler from ryca last week. I was thinking to pick up a decompresor lever but i decided to pass because of the 25$ for this little lever. Their shipping charge for the exhaust with a set of grip was OK, 46$. I will fab one for my bike but probably only next week. Au pire je peux envoyer un PM avec une photo. Marc |

Title: Re: thumb décomp Post by old_rider on 04/10/14 at 20:07:38 You might want to take a look at the cafe' build Dave did... he found a bicycle bmx brake lever that was perfect for the use you are asking about. |

Title: Re: thumb décomp Post by Dave on 04/11/14 at 04:47:48 The decompression release I built may not be what you are looking for - but it does work well. I used a different fuel tank and it sits right down near the top of the engine - there is no room to get your hand onto a lever directly on the decompression shaft. I also am using 7/8" bars on my bike - so the BMX brake lever fits onto my bars, and you would have to bore the lever mount out to 1". The bicycle brake lever has a long pull, so I had to build a longer lever for the decompression shaft. There is a more complete description in the build thread. Dave |
