Title: can you reuse a clutch cover gasket? Post by wickedbiker on 04/08/14 at 07:13:47 Hey guys I have a clutch cover gasket that I pulled off of a bad engine and it is in remarkably great condition. I am wondering if I should save it for when I need to remove my cover or just throw it out there's no saving them once used? |
Title: Re: can you reuse a clutch cover gasket? Post by Dave on 04/08/14 at 07:17:23 Yep, if it is not torn or damaged it can be used again. There may be some compression where it ws squeezed together - but I have not had one leak after using it again. I keep using them until they become hard or torn. Some will say to apply sealant.....I don't as I don't like the looks of the sealant oozing out the joint. If you do apply sealant just put a very thin coating.....not so thick that it oozes and makes a bead inside or outside. |

I did apply a little bit of sealant around the oil galley areas at the top of the gasket. The new gasket had some sealant there and I just used it as a guide. |
