Title: can you reuse a clutch cover gasket?
Post by wickedbiker on 04/08/14 at 07:13:47

Hey guys
I have a clutch cover gasket that I pulled off of a bad engine and it is in remarkably great condition. I am wondering if I should save it for when I need to remove my cover or just throw it out there's no saving them once used?

Yep, if it is not torn or damaged it can be used again.  There may be some compression where it ws squeezed together - but I have not had one leak after using it again.  I keep using them until they become hard or torn.  Some will say to apply sealant.....I don't as I don't like the looks of the sealant oozing out the joint.  If you do apply sealant just put a very thin coating.....not so thick that it oozes and makes a bead inside or outside.

I reused mine without a problem, even though I had a new one ready. I did apply a little bit of sealant around the oil galley areas at the top of the gasket. The new gasket had some sealant there and I just used it as a guide.
