If they can get jet fuel down to $3.00/gallon ( instead of the 6$ point they mentioned) Then maybe they can find a way to create a fuel good enough to burn to make steam to spin turbines & we can set up generator stations off the coast to power cities. About 60% of Americans live within 100 miles or so of the coast, dont they? I think thats what I read recently,, anyway, if we could take even 1/2 of the load off the current power grid & do it economically & do it w/o oil, imagine the ecological & economic benefit.. shazzam! |

Post by verslagen1 on 04/09/14 at 07:36:42 Back when they thought co2 was the major contributor to green house warming... someone invented a co2 extractor that scrubbed it from the air. They were wondering where to store the stuff. They mentioned how much co2 is already stored in the ocean and wondered if there was a tipping point and it would all be released causing the next ice age. If this is true, then pulling the co2 out of the ocean/air and recycling it into fuel will be extremely beneficial to us. |

You need energy to turn the saltwater into a liquid fuel for use in transportation. It was not my understanding that we get free energy. Oil/gasoline is useful due to amount of energy it stores. The need is to replicate that at sea. Hopefully I am wrong. |

I think that a major hurdle will be to scale up production and have a net energy gain from the process. |
