Title: Do the rear fender siderails offer much support?
Post by Greg on 03/29/14 at 20:13:36

I have a solo seat. I would like to remove the chrome side rails. I wouldn't carry anything on the rear fender. Do they add much support? Would my fender be flapping in the breeze any more than it already does?

The rails are just there to support the turn signals and bag supports, they don't actually have any fender support, I personally think they don't even need to be there...

I removed mine and moved the turn signals to the plate area in the back and actually bolted on a Harley tour pack (full size) to the fender (just for fun and vacation purpose).
:)

Look at the pics in the 2001 post.

Virtually none... unless you're dating a tonner that likes to lean back,... ditch them!...

I took mine off, they are there to support a heavy rear passenger..
I still take riders, most women weigh less than 160 (??)  :-X

Awesome. The less I have to worry about the better.
