Title: Carburator leak HELP!!
Post by Suzukisavvy on 02/20/14 at 13:08:07

At the bottom on the bowl on the carburator there is a needle that controls the jetting and when ever the motorcycle runs there is a slow but steady leak. whats the problem? is it a bad seal? should i put calk or some kind of sealant around the bolt?

on the bottom of the bowl is a drain valve.
it should tighten to seal.
no seals, no sealant.

haha thanks makes sense. the dealer drained the bike's carb for the winter and probably just didn't tighten it tight enough. thanks!

Don't really crank down on it.....it should just be snug.

Snug is all its ever gonna be. It can be snug in good shape or snug, twisted off/ stripped out, BUt, itll go to crap before it gets very tight.

Add one more to the LONG list of times that Mikey has screwed something up at the stealerships.

Why newbies think the dealerships understand much of anything about this particular Savage motorcycle, I really do not know ....

They sell 1-2 new every spring and then never see them again after the 600 mile service is done.
