What did you do for the front mount?

Just for now, I'm using 2 LARGE zip ties. But I just need to weld a tab on the top of the back bone. I do wish I could have gotten the tank lower on the frame. But the Back bone does a Y towards the rear of the tank. Once i change that, it will sit more like the stock tank. But will have to remove the front cross brace on the tank. I did have to cut the front tank mounts off of the frame.

From a personal experience, flip your ignightor box so the connection side is down. It will fill fith either rain water, or condensation, and rust you resistors. Just a tip, to save you a few dollars.

Thank you for the tip...The battery box is going to change in the next few months. so it will be mounted under the seat.

That is a very cool idea.  I may have to try that.  I seem to run out of gas ALOT on my S40! ;D

The tank from the Intruder/S50 is 3.2 gallons where as the Savage/S40 is 2.8 gallons. I own both and have the same range per tank on both. With an average of 50MPG, you will get an extra 20-25 miles using the S50 tank on a S40. The main advantage is no speedometer in the tank. I'm interested on how Mario plans on mounting the front of the S50 tank since it uses a bar mounted on top of the frame vs pucks on the side.

It's definitely a mod worth considering. My 88 Intruder has a 21" wheel and I would love to put an Intruder front end on the S40.

Well, it's not a direct swap... but, it doesn't look bad...
Especially if you succeed in getting it a bit lower...
You might consider the "seat lift" mod,.. to get the seat to match the lines of the tank...
More comfy, too...

Good info... keep the pics and updates coming... ;)...

Looks OK.  Will look better when you sus out the top mount and it sits lower.
I like the wire screen on your headlight, where did you get it from?

Well I would tell you that the tank looks nice - But you probably wouldn't hear me over the noise from the exhaust pipe! ;D

Serowbot: I didn't bother with the seat mod yet. Because I may have to trim the "wishbone" back a little to get this tank to same stock location.

Gerry: I found some aluminum mesh screen in a scrap metal bin, when I worked at Bell Helicopter. If you search for Ricer's race stuff you can come across it.  I Believe it is like grill mesh.

With both bikes sitting next to each other, it looks like a direct swap for the front ends. I'm going to start looking for an extra Intruder front end soon. I have other projects to finish first.
