Title: Max allowable front tire size for bob build
Post by SavageRichie on 01/29/14 at 18:05:55

Team,
I am wrapping up another savage bob build and elected to go fat tires on this one. I am running a 150 on the rear and the stock 110 on the front is not fat enough for the look I am after.

I know I should post pics which I will do once completed.

Anyway, I was thinking of going with the Coker economy 475/500 x 19 black wall tubed required 6 ply that goes for $100 with free shipping that is offered on many of the ford model A restorer websites.

Has any of you used this tire on the stock savage rim. If not what is the biggest tire that will safely fit on the front stock rim? Brand or metric verse English size is not the issue as I never had a bad tire in 40 years on a bike or build.

Any input here is appreciated. This is the last item to wrap up before completion.

I have a cafe racer to get back too that is also 99% done.

Thanks

Keep choppin

Richie

The stock 100/90-19 is actually a bit too big for the stock hoop. Which should run a 90/90-19 based on its width. You can shoehorn SOME 120/?/-19s in there, but it's going to rub...
