Title: Front break line lifetime Post by Kirill Timofeev on 01/26/14 at 18:28:48 Hi folks, I know that suzuki recommends to change front break line every 2 years. On my 1986 savage front break line was never changed and I see nothing wrong with it. Am I just lucky and should change this line asap or it is ok to use original break line? Thanks, Kirill. |
Title: Re: Front break line lifetime Post by houstonbofh on 01/26/14 at 19:25:52 I have never preventively changed a front break line. If it starts to ooze, or if it is squishy with fresh fluid, I will change it, but otherwise... |

Title: Re: Front break line lifetime Post by verslagen1 on 01/26/14 at 20:56:04 there'll be a time when the brakes will feel spongy, and bleeding them just doesn't fix it... that's when you change them. |
Title: Re: Front break line lifetime Post by Boofer on 01/26/14 at 21:02:55 Also, a brake line can sometimes collapse inside causing fluid to stay compressed against the caliper causing brake drag. Rare but it happens. Fluid does not return to the master cylinder. |

If Suzuki stocked up in anticipation of their dealers changing our brake lines every 2 years......They must have a big pile of them in storage somewhere! |
Title: Re: Front break line lifetime Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/27/14 at 07:17:50 Probably right next to all those Pinto gas caps someone must surely have amassed. When we ( My runnin buddy & I) were in Alabama we couldnt get outta that car more than 5 minutes w/o someone swipin the gas cap. We went & bought a new one, but it was gone in a day, so, we just started huntin a Pinto to rip off when we needed one.. Im sure somewhere in Mobile there is a garage with a pile of them stashed in it., |
