Paula and I went on a tour of a SC state park last year in Myrtle Beach on segways; it was not difficult to ride.  We spent the first 20-30 minutes learning the proper way to ride/control them.  There were about 10 people on the tour with a guide/instructor and none of us had ever been on one before.  We spent about 4-5  hours on pavement mostly, but it also included some trail areas, grass and some gravel as well.  No one had difficulty riding them safely.
Watching the video of these accidents shows that every accident was due to operator error, horsing around or just not paying attention.

If I lived in town , I believe I'd want one . ;)

LOL!!! That vid was fun to watch ... would love to try out a Segway one of these days, but I've never seen one around here? How fast can they realistically go?

The Segway's are capable of 12-14 mph, so it scoots along quite nicely.
Paula and I thoroughly enjoyed the day we spent riding them.
They are pretty expensive but if I had the pocket change to get one I certainly would.  It's a blast.

Yeah, but you'd expect the inventor to be a little smarter about it.

Ive always had a question in my mind about HOW he died,, but the article, & having seen how they can throw a guy,,together, they calm that worry that he was murdered some.

The narrow pathway used by walkers is littered with tree roots and is rutted and uneven for most of its length.

Doing anything at the edge of a shear cliff, except slow careful steps, is just plain stupid.  Tempting death is a mistake that rarely  affords a second chance.

Yup always know the risks of what you are doing, whether it be riding a cycle, Segway or crossing the street......you never know, still  just a little funny irony that he died on one after purchasing the company  ::)
