Title: Google Glass, go or no go?
Post by old_rider on 01/23/14 at 11:53:29

I got my key code for glass today, anyone else in the "pool" at the moment?
I really like the idea behind it and think I could help in its development, but am not sure I want to fork out the price of a  used savage to get it ($1600 with taxes, or there bouts).
Besides, I would be in the R&D books for newer products, or at least I hope I would.

I like the idea, but too rich for me. Some things ... I just don't like being in front of.

I mean I just now got a smart phone.

I buy all my new computer stuff for $100 there abouts.   Free I will pick up quickly, but the inverse tends to happen for the more it costs.

Google Glasses are for the rich young techie yuppies.   I am about 1,500 years out on that purchase, I think.

;D

The end model will be cheaper and probably different style due to the small battery.
The first few were actually given away, once they were seen in public google got the idea they would target a few of the rich gotta have it techies and it worked, now they are selling to wider base of folks for the same reason.
Yup, i'm stuck wanting the newest of the new.... and just happen to have saved a little cash up...but I am selling my big bike so i'll be able to replenish what I take out.
My main reason is because I think I can give them an outlook from a mechanics viewpoint.
I now think I might use my gi bill to learn how to write apps for droid systems, that way I could actually write apps for glass in hopes of making a living without breaking my back LOL :)

I got invited and was able to buy a set... have had them a little over a month now. It's a neat concept, but not worth the $1500 price tag. I think once they're out for a fraction of that, they'll really take off.

I'm a computer guy and into pretty much all tech stuff. So it's neat to be able to beta test some new, innovative technology.

Did you pick up a set? My code was only valid for 7 days...

At my age I have to hold anything with print on it a fair distance away from my face in order to get it into focus.  How can those things work with it being so close to your eye?
