Title: SavageBob
Post by savagebob on 01/22/14 at 00:39:57

Hey guys, thought I'd share my bobber build. Let me know what you think?
I love it, great fun to ride. Many thanks to Lancer and all the information on this forum which has made this so easy.  :D

I live in NZ and couldn't afford the full BCB kit so I have done things slightly differently, I got some of their bits and made up the rest. So it might be of interest to others looking to so something similar.

I'm currently working on the supercharger and I'm about halfway there so hopefully I can bring something new to the forum soon.

Nice work, I like the matt black I've done a couple of bits on mine in that colour - happy riding round NZ, its summer there at the moment isn't it.  jealous ? me? what gave you that idea  ;D

Very interesting, I wonder how many others have been supercharged. What brand is the blower?

Cool black bike and even cooler white boxer (in the link).
I'm thinking of putting an ammo box kinda like yours on mine. ;)

I like the color too, nice build.
I like the, is it white paint on the rims or just polished.
I really like your Escort Van from your blog.
Gerry

Thanks guys,

The outer edge of the rim is painted in industrial white metal paint. It was a PITA to mask up and do but yeah, I like it, it was worth it.

Yeah the escort van is my mates car. It is a wee beast.

The Supercharger is an AMR300 off a Subaru Vivio. I've designed a driveshaft for it and machined a bearing into the side cover to run the pulley. I'll be writings an extensive report on the build once I'm sure it works. If it's successful I might look at selling supercharger kits for this bike. But will have to wait and see how it turns out. I'm not far away with it.

What is the white boxer people are referring to? Do you mean my dog?

VERY nice!!  How did you mount the ammo can? That's really cool!

I bent up a simple bracket around it and counter sunk some threads, then it's mounted through the foot peg hole with one bolt and then I made a loop bracket in the shape of a C which clamps around the swing arm at the front.

Most people think the battery is in there and then are surprised when I open it and it's only got Bourbon in there.

May I respectfully suggest, that you should consider forward foot pegs. The current scheme will leave your left ankle and heel awful close to that drive pulley. What part of NZ are you in?

I'm in Christchurch, yeah i might need fwd controls.. but I'm a short dude so the current setup feels good. The pulley will be close to my ankle but I'll have a cover over it and just probably space out that peg or the control slightly to compensate. If that doesn't work then fwd controls it will be.

Yap, I mentioned the dog http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_(dog) because I really like boxers and I had one brindle coated.
By the way, those pulleys and their belt need a full cover imho.

I like how you did that mini battery install.  Hope you don't mind.....I'm going to steal that install, and do it to mine.   ;D

Don't mind at all! that's why I've shared it. I got the original idea from here anyway. But in the original tech article the other guy made up a custom bracket, I just didn't see the point when the factory bracket can be bent up and works perfectly!

Good looking bike  :) I like the "anti chrome" look of the shocks - are those the original shocks..?

Title: Re: SavageBob
Post by savagebob on 01/28/14 at 14:19:30

yeah original shocks.. so they ain't very good really. But I don't want to raise the rear. I might find some newer savage shocks perhaps and swap the powder coated springs over.
