I looked at the specs:
Quote:
Sway Lithium - $7999
96v LiFePo4 Battery
8kw PMAC Hub Motor
300w Controller
Range: 40 Miles
Speed: 60mph
Recharge: 3.5 Hours
A 8KW motor, 10.7 hp, should do 60 mph.  My 11.7 hp Vespa hits 64 mph actual at where I hit a rev limiter.  Range is 40 miles, probably less if you are pushing it on the freeway.  My Vespa goes 120 miles a tank.  The Sway recharges in 3.5 hours.  My Vespa recharges in 3.5 minutes.

I get about 70 mpg.  At $4/gallon I have to ride about 50,000 miles to pay the $3000 premium for being "green".  I ride about 7K miles a year.  I have to own the Sway for 7 years to pay the difference for my Vespa.

That's my Vespa.  You can get a Lance 150cc scooter for about $2,300 and you have to ride 100,000 miles to not pay to be "green".   The break even point for for being "green" is 14 years.

It is a neat toy.  But costs a few thousand bucks to be "green".   I am not that green.  It is also strictly a local scoot.  I like to go places that are more than 20 miles away.

I like the generic statement "50% more braking capacity".  Obviously written by an advertising writer and not someone that understands the concept of braking.  I do believe it has 50% more wheels than my motorcycle......but  not that it has 50% more braking capacity.

On the other hand......go to Youtube and watch scooter accidents in those countries with a lot of scooter traffic.  Most of the crashes occur when the operator tries to stop fast, locks up the front wheel, and goes down hard!

I like the ideas of electrics but if I'm gonna spend that much I'd get a Brammo or Zero...

I like it. I can't wait for smart people to sort out the electric motorcycle and get it to market at a price I can afford.
