Looks like serious muffler burns where they have it located

What's wrong with the muff going where it belongs, beside or under the frame rail, down and out of the way?

I was. I said beside or under the frame rail.  Not beside the cylinder.  I've been burned on plenty of dirt bikes with mufflers in locations similar to that.

Maybe I should have said beside or under the bottom frame rail.  It is, after all, a street bike.  Ground clearance isn't that big of an issue

It's a nice bike.  Someone put in lots of work, time, and effort.  It's just completely not my style.

Give me a stocker and let me install a good vetter fairing, some bags, a trunk, a double bucket touring seat, radio...Now we're talking.  :)

I see Suzuki winning a huge lawsuit over Clymer for defacing their bike... ::)

Nah...It's somebody's bike.  Clymer just got pics of it.

Now, I betcha that is the only "fix" that Clymers has done to ALL the dozens of known errors that are still included in the manual.

I just keep thinkin' how much my boys would be hurtin' if I rode longer than about 3 min on that seat leanin' forward to hold those bars.
I think that's a young mans bike, or its just to pull off a trailer and look at. (and that's my opinion, i'm not knockin' the looks, its very clean looking)

Now that I have read what you posted.....I now understand that you agreed the muffler belongs under the bike......not up there along the cylinder.  For some reason I thought you mean the muffler belonged up on the side!  My bad :o

When I was a kid I had a small italian mini bike with a chrome muffler down the right side.  I got a really horrible nasty burn on my calf from that muffler one day - it got my attention!

that's a vent port, vac port hidden under breather hose.

You guys got eyes like hawks... :o...

I like an upswept pipe... I'd just want the muffler a good bit further back...
...and I'd prefer it on the left side, following the belt line...
(wishful thinking. I'll never do it)... :-?...

If I were to do it, I'd do it that way.
but IMO, leaves an ugly hole from where it was.
