Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by verslagen1 on 01/12/14 at 20:33:53 100 hits, and the 78th contained your answer. and if I selected tech section only... 10 hits, and the 3rd contained your answer. |
Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by old_rider on 01/12/14 at 21:20:33 Thing is with this page tho..... there are 3 search places and the guy might be putting it in the wrong ones. Click on the "search" tab next to the "Help" tab above and fill in some info, it will give you the site posts with "Valve clearance" in them. Hope this helps.... |

Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by axa on 01/14/14 at 10:15:27 motox, another thing you can do is dont even use this site tools. i use my google search bar to do a site search, for your example site:suzukisavage.com valve clearance you would get relative hits in chronological order, also i like to think google uses some of its pagerank voodoo to place the most popular results on top. and dont sweat it, people often forget that they too once didn't know something |
Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/14/14 at 10:45:27 Do Whuuut? Eaux Neaux! Why, Ive known it all,, since I was just a Bay Bee!,, Uhh, actually. Ive been wrenching on things since I was a kid,, but when I got this bike I was so intimidated I cant even find words to explain it. Id never had to adjust valves on anything. Every engine I touched had lifters, hydraulic things,, Ive watched countless people walk in here & be too afraid to do things & after a while, theyre wrenching theirs, too,Most just walk in & ask, once in a while, someone will ask for help with searching! YOu get done readin, you got questions, pop them up. Let us know how youre doin, anyway., |
Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by motox56 on 01/14/14 at 11:44:27 Not intimidated at all by the bike, but some people on the site will take a swat at you. |
Title: Re: Valve clearance Post by Oldfeller on 01/14/14 at 12:41:51 .... and for the search challenged amongst us (yes, Justin, you was jest a young puppy dawg way back when I was jest a eyes-still-closed new born puppy, I remember them old days, I do) .... here is the "how to best use the list search function" thread that I wrote way back when it was me that was getting sideswiped for not looking good before asking. It made it to the #1 item on the Tech Index where it remains until today, because "failure to look" is the quickest thing that can get you a pointed reminder about doing your basics. http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1240751610 Now, we have a Google search bar up there and our site is web crawled and indexed by Google very thoroughly --- that is why we suddenly get questions dropped in on us about other brands of bikes (Google referenced our threads in response to a search on that topic). You can use Google and you will get some hits. Some will apply, and some will be wrong information posted by idjits who where trying to find out something. Search the Tech Section only and you will get the authoritative "approved" fully developed answers that have been refined and corrected over the years by generations of moderators. So, Tech Section is safest ..... and best. ;) ============== Lastly, a bit of free valve adjustment advice that is worth every penny you paid for it ... Range is .003" to .005" ---- but always adjust to a snug .004" Why? Because the .003" feeler gage stock is just too flimsy for words and you will get you some adjustment error using one because you get no consistent feel. (the .003" jest keeps bowing and folding up on you) A snug .004" (stiffer feeler gage material) actually gives you less clearance slop than a .003" can be trusted to give you. |
