Dude, you're getting a Dell !!!

Dell, why is Dell coming out with a business level Chrome book on a 4 year leasing plan?   Because K-12 schools want to lease them, that's why.   Much of education has gone net-based and classwork exercises are keyboard hands on instead of on paper.

Cost of upkeep on a crop of Windows laptops for 4 years is very high compared to using a Chromebook for the same period.

Educators are beginning to swing their efforts over to net site based scholarly items that are rented yearly just like the Chromebooks are rented (and some vendors are putting together attractive pricing on packaged deals).

Google is supporting this effort as an educational "Good Thing".  Dell just wants folks to lease whole crops of low cost Chrome books from them to cover Johnny while he is in public school.

Then lease him another one when he goes to work for ABC Company when he graduates from college.

IT departments are liking Chrome Books more and more because Google takes care of all the software updating for them.

Kids can't lose their homework and if their dog eats their laptop their stuff is still all there when they type their password in on a replacement loaner machine.

And yes Virginia, you CAN work off line for both your Wordprocessing and Spreadsheet functions if you use the stock Google software.

This is also true for the rented educational softwares.  Most Edu-packs that have homework assignments also give the kiddies the resident tools to do the homework off line as well.

Teachers love the canned course software packs because it has built in tests that the kid takes on the Chromebook, then the software site grades the test and also keeps up with each kids grade and progress.

Some laziness in over-tasked grade school teachers is universal, I am afraid.   Give them a choice between renting edu-packs or doing it all themselves, grading it and keeping records and guess which one they go for every time ....
