Title: Voltage Regulator relocation
Post by twelveport on 11/21/13 at 20:01:33

Working on installing saddlebags. I have the Suzuki OEM support bars mounted & still working on mounting the bags. Not sure yet if I will have to go with a throw-over or not, but if I do I need to relocate the voltage regulator. Any ideas?

I have the oem supports
hard mounted the bags to them with 1/4" plywood in the bags and conduit straps nut and bolted w/ washers from the outside, took off the lacing on the straps and folded them back under secured with zip tyes

over 13k this way no probs  w/o looking think I used 4 straps each bag

or you can trim the straps around the VR

I used the OEM support and have throw-over bags, I didn't relocate the rectifier and I haven't had any problems yet, about 8k miles on it so far.

I threw the bag straps over the fender on top of the voltage regulator and it just did not lay down right. I'm sure I could shove the seat down and make it work, but it just doesnt sit right with me. I'm just kind of picky and would like a nice clean fit. Thanks for submitting your idea.  :D
