Title: Olympia, Washington Toy Run Post by kimchris1 on 11/14/13 at 18:37:54 Ok well time again to start thinking of possibly attending this event. Saturday Dec 7, 2013 is the date for the event this year.. If you have never ridden in one, it is a great time and no matter what kind of bike you ride, all is welcome. A toy or monetary donation or both if your able to do so is all it takes to enjoy the ride thru town. Roads are blocked off and nothing but bikes. Pedestrians are lined along the sidewalks with signs of thanks and even smiles. Were planning to attend providing the weather is not cold and icy like last year. Seems there are a few of us in the surrounding areas and possibly we can meet and enjoy the ride together. For more info, you can google, Olymipa Wa, Toy Run.. :) kim |

They set up In a sam's parking lot, usually have on the order of 400-600 motorcycles. Our registration here in florida is $10 per person and a toy. The local Harley Dealership sponsors it, the local sheriff's and state troopers block all intersections for a 10 mile ride. Folks line the road down here too, at the end of the ride there is a get together food, music and motorcycle games. If you have never gone to one, please go, its and event that will totally make your year and one you will not forget. |
Title: Re: Olympia, Washington Toy Run Post by HAPPYDAN on 11/15/13 at 19:30:47 Well thanks for the "Heads Up"! It's the first I've heard of this. All the rallys and rides around here are "American Iron Only". I do not wish to have my expensive dental work re-arranged, so I never even consider these events, altho I like to contribute to a good cause. It would be a long, cold ride from Gig Harbor, but might be worth considering. Again, Thanks! |
Title: Re: Olympia, Washington Toy Run Post by kimchris1 on 11/16/13 at 11:35:37 Happy Dan, your very welcome. Perhaps if weather allows we can meet up and ride together. I know their are a few others on this forum from our area as well. This event is attended by any and all types of bikes. In years past they allowed us to toss candy to the crowd on the sidelines. Last I heard they have stopped this as it was causing kids to come out in the street too close to the bikes as we were progressing thru the designated areas. I again am hoping that the weather allows us to attend. They have entertainment before the event starts and also their are coffee shops and even a Target that you can shop around if the entertainment is not to your enjoyment. Oh and decorating your bike is welcome as well. I usually hang garland and some bells once I get there. A few window clings on the windshield as well. It makes me feel good to know I am helping a child or a few to have a happier day.. :) kim |
