The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children . Suddenly, a Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges at you . . . You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN: Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! What is a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP? Does the man look poor or oppressed? Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day. Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior? I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus. However, each of my famlily of 4 own the same exact gun (well with different grips). So.. the question isn't one of us shooting multiple times... its more of who was too late to get a good shot in. PS: which will probably be ME.. as my family except me have had proffessional armed self defense training. ( so they know when to shoot). PPS: yeah losing the "war between the states" can make you a little crazy. PPS: there are too many BANGs for most M1/1911. Standard is 7 plus one in the pipe. |

If I didn't get in my double tap before the wife's laser dot hit him, i'd only be doing the final head shot. She can put four in a once inch square at 30 ft.... darn laser site.... glad I got it for her tho. Oh, she shoots a S&W .38 special air weight/w no hammer, and I shoot either my KelTech 9mm or my Sig S&W 9mm. |

Ive never fired one of those, the only gun I have that can be fired by just hauling on the trigger till the hammer pulls back is a Biggo S&W 357 w a 6 or 8 inch barrel,, I cant 'member rat now,, & shes STILL hitting a 1 inch group? That bad guy better hope he is carrying that 1 inch square target on a stick held off to the side somewhere, huhh? He sure wouldnt want it on his chest,, |

Plenty accurate for in home distances,... The benefit of a hammerless, is you won't have an accidental discharge from adrenalin... It takes a deliberate pull... It can fill a pie plate with 5 shots at 10yds, rapid point and shoot... Good enough for me... I have it loaded with low velocity wadcutters... for low muzzle flash, noise, and recoil... a wadcutter will make a paper punch hole with it's sharp edges... and in a court, it won't be considered a mankiller bullet... I also keep a speedloader with it... loaded with standard round nose bullets... Hammerless are also good for people with children... most small children can't pull the trigger... It's a kinda' minimalist home defense weapon.. very practical, I think... JMHO... |

Pine gave me 3 boxes of .38Spl when we did his rear tire swap and bike check over this summer. I think we've put 2 rounds through the 442-1 or whatever that miserable little J frame piece of junk thumb breaker Airweight is called... Need to put a new hammer nose/firing pin on the 5" barrel .38LC that was converted to .38 Special. It broke off, too many rounds through it since the 1920s... |

I got her the .38 because of her being a novice at shooting, the 5lb pull kept her from jumping the gun on trigger squeeze on pickup. Believe you me, she has good hand and forearm strength for such a little frame. We haven't purchased her a semi-auto yet because of ammo availability and she has yet to find one she likes, we will trade the Keltech in on which ever one she settles for in the end. We do have a gun range north of us about 1.5hrs that rents guns for target practice, but since ammo prices have quadrupled we haven't gone for about four months... For now, she is happy, and if she is happy...well you know ;) |

Any criminal in your home immediately recognizes the sound when you're racking a shell into the chamber. Maybe some of you have been in close quarters, infantry combat. If you have, then you know how high the adrenalin gets when you are about to be blown away, or blow someone else away, whoever shoots first. How accurate you are on the range with any weapon is little indication of how you'll handle a real "kill or be killed" situation. My secretary's husband is a police officer who had to fire his weapon in anger last week for the first time in his 7 years on the force. Unfortunately, he had to shoot a German Shepard whose nut job owner had sicked on him. Even though it was a dog, and not a person, he told me that he had tunnel vision for at least 10 minutes after, from the high blood pressure and adrenalin boost of having to shoot. |

Using reloaded hollow points which I pressed steel BB"s into the hollow point and loaded them on the hot side. I know a hot loaded .380 ACP is a lot like a hot rodded Yugo :D but the BB'd slugs will ruin somebody's day. |
