Title: Is there a car?...
Post by Serowbot on 10/20/13 at 22:15:13

Is there a car, that you would give your left nut, to drive for just one hour?...
:-?...

Well,... I'd give your left nut to drive this one...
1938 Bugatti Atlantic...:-*...
Only 4 were ever made... only 2 still exist...
Has there ever been another car so beautiful?... :-?...

Lots of nice post vintage stuff Serowbot. 540K Mercedes Benz, 20/25 HP Rolls Royce, V16 Cadillac, early 'thirties Hispano Suiza, V16 Marmon, big Horch, maybe a Duesenberg. I think there are two Type 57 Bugatti's in my country, none of them Atlantics. Sadly one of them was brought by a Kiwi engineer who thought he could improve on Bugatti's front axle by converting to independent front suspension. He died before the project could be completed and I don't know what happened to the car.

I'm quite fond of my nuts.....but I guess the 1937 Delahaye  135MS Roadster would be on the short list if I had to decide  ;D

Jog there was an article in Cycle World several years back. An R1 raced a Viper and The Viper eat the R1 until the Vipers brakes faded away. I dont know if they had the govenors on the bikes back then or not. The Europeans decided to pass a law that motorcycles must be governed to 183 mph. Dont know where that figure came from. What would be the difference going down at 175 vs 183mph LOL. Anyway the whole motorcycle industry followed suit and 183 is the top speed on all bikes now unless you tinker with them. Cars are still able to run over 200 mph. Bot, that is one of the classiest cars I've ever laid eyes on. I'd like to buy my wife about a $500 dress and take her out to a fancy restaurant in the car.

I've already been fixed, but this one would be my dream car....

Lamborghini Countach, I have a poster of a red one I used to keep on my garage wall...now that you have started it I'm going to go look for it.

The original mclaren f1
Road car or race car. Don't care.

Jog2 wow, what if someone changed lanes.

Midnightrider, 183 mph is about 294 kmph, so I guess they wanted to keep it under 300 kmph

Toesnose, I don't know whether that's a Figoni and Falashi, or a Saoutchick body on that Delahaye but it sure is nice.

Well, while we are dreaming, one of these from 1967 would do nicely. Jimmy Clark at the wheel if I am not mistaken.

I guess that my choice would be a 55 Caddy convertible. What a rolling tank.

anything that got me an hour away from something I really didn't want to be around would do me. Otherwise, not really into giving up my bits. Tho I would do a swap with a hot mum at my kids school. An hours use of my nut (and bits) for an hour in her Suzuki Swift sounds about right.

D'you think the Bruce would be willing to part with her Sheila for so little ?  :-?

For me.......my dream car has always been the Porsche 917-30.  Twelve cylinders, 1,100 horsepower, 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, 240 mph top speed.  I know I don't have the talent it take to drive one - but this thread is not based on reality. ;D

Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/22/13 at 06:23:13

That right there is a full sized slot car.
I wonder if I could hang onto the wheel during a full on 0 to 60 dash..
Fella problee otta wear ear plugs, soze his cheeks wouldnt slide back in there.

Title: Re: Is there a car?...
Post by Rix on 10/22/13 at 07:52:13

And the mclaren is very nearly as fast 0-60, does 243 mph, and does it with a nicely appointed interior, aircon, etc :)

But the 917 is a beast.
The pig car and gulf painted cars will always be an icon for me.

I guess nobody noticed...   :-/...
...but I volunteered one of your nuts to drive a Bugatti... not mine...
:-?...

Well, I would not give my left nut for one of these, but I would give one of yours or maybe a couple of those chrome head covers off one of our bikes for one of these.  I can see me right now cruising down the highway in this beauty and girls drooling for a ride! With this car and some chloroform and a rag, I could have any woman I wanted!

One car, that's easy, the big block Shelby Cobra. I think it had a 428 in it and could go from a standing start to 100 mph and back down to a dead stop in under 4 seconds. The hair stands up on my arms just thinking about it.
If I have a second choice I would go for a Greenwood Corvette 427 bigblock. Saw them race on the road course in the early 80's at Watkins Glen.

Cobra 0-60 was 3.9.
1-100 -0 was 14 or 15 seconds.

I rode shotgun in my buddies low 11 second Chevy Nova about 5 years ago... near 120mph in 11 seconds...
It wasn't actually that fun... (mostly just saw sky)... took about 20 minutes for my heart to slow down...
It scared the holy hand-grenade out of me... :o...

I'll just take a leisurely putt in that old Bugatti...

If I'm not mistaken it's a  Figoni  body started prior to Figoni & Falaschi  partnering up, but was finished after they were in business together.
