Title: Colortune Post by engineer on 10/19/13 at 11:43:56 Anyone ever use one of the Colortune spark plugs? http://www.carbtune.com/colortune.html Apparently they have been around for years and were often used to tune the older British cars, MGs, Triumphs, etc.  Has anyone tried one on the Savage?

How in the world are you going to be able to ride and look at the spark plug while applying throttle, cruising, accelerating, etc?  Our spark plug is buried under the tank....and it is almost impossible to see when off the bike....it would be impossible to do it while riding.

Title: Re: Colortune Post by engineer on 10/19/13 at 19:29:57 I like the trained squirrel idea, several live in my oak tree but I can't even get them to clean up the empty nut shells they throw at me. The Colortune plug is intended for use while the bike is running on its stand.  Yellow/orange combustion color means rich, blue like a good stove top flame means correct and bluish white means lean.  You observe the color and adjust the idle air screw to obtain the right mix.  It is only for the lower RPM range so there is no need to go riding with one installed. It is just like adjusting your oxy-acetylene torch by color of the flame.

Surely beats driving up & down & all around thinking "hope I got it right this time..."  ::) ;)
