Title: speedometer housing squeaks
Post by Steampowered Boy on 10/17/13 at 17:58:42

I have had a squeak I couldn't identify since buying my 2012 S40 brand new in May 2012.  I discovered the squeak is coming from the plastic housing of the speedometer but don't know an easy way to "tighten it up" so it doesn't squeak anymore.

I can move it with my hand about 2mm in each direction; the tank doesn't move, just the black housing and speedometer.  Any suggestions on how to stabilize it?

I'm not being disrespectful to Serowbot, but shouldn't your dealer/stealer, whatever, be fixing this under warranty. I got two years "warranty"? in New Zealand and surely you should get the same in the USA. There are some quite aggressive people on this forum who file complaints with various consumer organisations if they feel US dealers have let them down.

In an ideal world, Suzuki would have fixed this problem years ago...
...but, if Suzuki hasn't remedied it in 25 years... what do you think dealer will do?...
"Mr. Dealer, my speedo squeaks"...
Dealer, "What?... I don't hear anything"...

No dealer is going say, Suzuki screwed up, for 25 years, and we fixed it by drowning your mounting springs in RTV...
;D ;D ;D...

I think, they knew they had some kind of problem, when they mounted the speedo on springs... (they just gave up on the noise)...
"Eh,.. at reast it ron't brow up into rittle britty preaces"... :-/...
