Title: Front splitline nut loose, oil leak
Post by old_rider on 10/16/13 at 13:28:23

Ok, was taking all the bikes out for my monthly test run and checks. Found the wife's savage was leaking oil out the front and draining down and getting the left side casing wet.
Got a flashlight and found oil leaking from the forward nut at the head split line, nothing above the split line just leaking from the nut down.

I tightened the nut, degreased the jug and cleaned it all up and going to keep an eye on it.

Sound like a plan? will that work or should I just go ahead and order a top seal kit and plug and get it all over with now?

Going through the same thing OR. So far I'm in the"don't worry about it until it keeps ya awake at night" phase  ::)

Those work loose, front and rear... just snug it back up...

If it does it a lot,.. add a dab of locktite or rtv...
