Title: I'm next.....

Got my dyna coming, so I will be attempting to install it without leaks I hope. I was wondering if Hi-temp RTV will work? I can get some from work that is used around the jet engine, and they get sorta hot too :)

I'll just go w/ stock carb for now and see the results.
I hope the bike farts are enhanced, but not their flavor  :-*

RTV has never worked on exhaust pies for me... but,.. I never had a jet either...

It's always just made a mess for me... not really meant to be gooped on...

With a good circle clamp and maybe some tin can shims, we don't neeeed nooo steeenking RTV.

A few hints that I found helpful:
1) Loosen the header bolts at the engine. This allows the header pipe to swivel a little as needed to better line upwith the muffler.
2) You only need one bolt for the muffler to muffler bracket.  You also can bend the muffler bracket to help things line line up.
3) Cut a few more slots in the muffler inlet to allow it to clamp down better.

Raydawg,

I don't know what it is about that area, but the same red RTV that I would use on a GE T701C/D or on my APU is NOT good enough for that joint.  I tried it; it turned orangish-pink, dried up, and flaked off in about a week.

I never did try the grey stuff we put on the thermocouple, but I'm not so sure it's that different...  Just shim it right the first time, and if that don't work just weld it on there.   :D
