Title: raptor petcock vs prime.
Post by Jsud04 on 10/07/13 at 18:23:06

OK I tired to post this on the form discussing the aforementioned issue. And it did not work because I canning post a reply. Anyhow.

Can someone explain to me the difference between running on prime versus using a raptor petcock. If they are both direct flow would they not both risk flooding. Seems to me the only difference comes down to reserve...

Basically correct... no reserve...
You must have the vac line removed and both connections capped,.. or else you could still leak fuel into the engine...
.. and, if the stock pet is damaged,.. you may also have no positive shut-off...

In other words... you are essentially running without any petcock at all...

Not a good idea... but, it will run...  :-/...

I wonder if the folks at Yamaha are wondering why they are selling twice as many Raptor Petcocks.....as there are Raptors to put them on?  We are not the only bike owners using them...the DRZ400 has problems with their vac petcock....and the recommended replacement is a Raptor petcock.
