Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by bobert_FSO on 10/03/13 at 13:26:07 That is absolutely lovely! No offense to those that like flat black bikes, but I think this beats them hands-down. |

Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by old_rider on 10/03/13 at 14:23:43 Don't drive it at noon on sunny days 8-)! LOL |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by ESLloyd on 10/03/13 at 15:41:40 I like that, reminds me of some of the Brit stuff I owned a lifetime ago. :) How much was the chrome job? Being a semi old fart every time I look at the pic I like it more. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by raydawg on 10/03/13 at 17:25:43 Do you have the black leather (?) attachment running down the center to arrest the urge to look in its reflection to see how pretty you look while tooling along @ 60? :-* However....I do find it pretty cool in a classic sense from the days of chrome! |

That is exactly why I did it. My first bike was an old Enfield. It was not cheap. The plating cost $500 CAD, from one of the best shops in North America, which happens to be here in London. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by stinger on 10/04/13 at 06:15:06 I think Serowbot will agree that the chrome tank sets off the beauty of the chrome head covers. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by jcstokes on 10/04/13 at 10:26:59 Stinger is correct, the tank and head covers blend superbly. Do you run a Baron Bullet tachometer Art teacher? |

Yes I do. There is only one problemwith it- mine has the black face to match the speedo, but it does not illuminate properly at night. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by ahernandez74 on 10/04/13 at 11:55:57 Wow. It looks pretty stunning. I definitely am a fan of the tank. I dont think I can keep the chrome tank look on a cafe racer bike, but you can pull it off pretty well. Good work. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by jcstokes on 10/04/13 at 12:30:01 Yes, Artteacher and I am cursed the same way. I had a cheap generic thing installed on mine. Wish I'd got white face, black dial, which I could probably have had for the same money. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by EJID on 10/04/13 at 12:39:42 I like the look of the Tank Arteacher 8-) I too bought a tach with a black face, but mine was dented when I received it and the eBay seller sent be a different one with the white face instead. Maybe it was the better of the two options, because I can see it clearly after dark. http://p1.bikepics.com/2011/10/03/bikepics-2281784-200.jpg |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by Midnightrider on 10/04/13 at 19:10:41 I remember buying an Hodaka just because of the chrome tank. I bought a junked BSA500 because of the chrome tank. It didn't have a dent or scratch and I found a place that had replacement badges. I worked a lot of overtime for 3 years and didn't have time to start on it. One day a guy walked in and offered me $200 more than I paid for it. He left with it. I probably would never have ridden it because of the reversed controls but she sure was purdy to look at. |
Title: Re: Chromed tank. Post by kimchris1 on 10/05/13 at 20:08:36 I like it and have admired Bot's tank for some time. Now I can admire yours as well.. Had an assistant Mgr few years back. He rides a HD. Just about everything was chrome on his bike. I warned him of being a hazard on sunny days. Of course here we don't have as many sunny days as in Az.. So not so much of a hazard..:) kim |
