Post by Serowbot on 09/25/13 at 18:44:50

Gerry made me an offer I couldn't refuse... (actually,... an offer no man could refuse)... :o...
I guess I'll have to quit with the Harley jokes now... :-X...
Jeepers!...I think she's bigger than my car...  ;D ;D ;D...

Well then the old saying is true...

No good deed goes unpunished.   ;D

So, when do you want me to come take it off your hands? Have to preserve your hard core Savage at heart image and all...

I hear a baby HD calling my name, it is saying "I need to be in a rigid frame conversion"... and run a springer... and real gas tank, because this Intruder 1400 sourced abomination is why I crashed and broke Gerry...

;D

Sounds a bit like Ron White...  :-?

It's a 2012,... 4.5 gallon tank... and the seat is heaven...
No stock seat better...  I rode a 883 previous to this, and the seat felt like telephone pole.... This has decent cushion... you can scoot fore and aft, side to side, and still feel comfort (I'm squirmy)...
I wouldn't mind a bit more rear shock... and the wide bars will take some getting used to...
She tracks good, and wind has no effect on her... (I was hitting 20-30mph gusts on mountain curves today)...
550lbs is only felt backing up from parking....
You feel very compact on the road...
Ground clearance is minimal.... (I have to tackle my driveway curb at an angle)...  otherwise, okay... ( I've heard reports of peg scraping easily,... but, I'm fairly good about leaning)...
I've been gentle on the power,... but the launch feels mellow compared to my Savage... I gunned a 1-2 shift and had to grip the bars to hang on... it has some grunt...
I do think she's a grand lady.... but, my Savage still has my heart...
...(keep in mind, my Savage has a bit more "shock and awe" than stock)...

No drips... so far... ;D ;D ;D...
;)...

PS... Gerry, is moving on to a trike... (this last crash has taken it's toll... one more wheel in store for a near 1,000,000 mile vet)...
You've never seen a guy so ready to get back in the wind... ;D...

I've always thought a Sportster was the best looking bike Harley ever made. The big ones do nothing for me. Good catch Bot.

Nice looking bike Serow, sportsters are great bikes. I like the looks of the classic sporty tanks better then the rounded ones, but the extra fuel capacity is nice for extended rides  ;)

What sold him on the bike was the chrome head covers.

I'm not sure you have enough bikes, I only see 3 in that parking space.  ::)

Bring it over for "torture testing", I can usually pop a Sporty within a couple hours...  ;D

I've sent 2 Ironheads to the bottom of the Snake River and sent close to a dozen Evo Sporties to the breaker's yard with shattered cranks, thrown rods or the top ends grenaded...

They sure make them out of lightweight materials...

Of course, I'm the same guy who blew apart an R51 BMW within a week of buying it, broke it in half when the drive shaft failed...  :-?
