Whats a good battery to put in?

I installed the standard factory recommended wet cell battery when I got my bike about 9 months ago.  Have had no trouble at all with it.

I've seen threads on here about AGM batteries.  There's one somewhere in the last week or so where one was just a little too tall.

There are also a few threads about some of the more exotic newer tech batteries.  Much smaller and lighter and still start the bike.

I haven't had enough experience with the available brands these days to be able to make any sort of brand recommendation.

If you don't have a battery tender consider giving one a try.  Especially while you have everything taken apart.  It is well worth the $25.

hey Doc did you pull the battery and check to see if your fluid levels were low? You just might need some distilled water   ::)

I do have a battery tender and after havng the problem i left it on for a day and it started right up i check with the previous owner and as far as i can guess the battery is at least 4 years old and could be original

4yrs is about average for a battery...  A sealed battery will save you having to pull it every 6 months to check water levels... a wet cell can save a couple of bucks...
The question is,.. are you cheap, or lazy?...
I'm both... ;D ;D ;D...
... (but, I pay the extra for sealed... so, I guess I'm lazier than I am cheap)...
I have no shame... http://suzukisavage.com/yabb2.2/Templates/Forum/default/embarassed.gif...

so is this  what i want

MagnaPower 12-Volt Sealed AGM Premium Batteries are ideal for ATVs, motorcycles, personal watercraft (PWC) and snowmobiles. These batteries are activated and ready to go. AGM technology increases power while improving rider and environmental safety. Highly porous microfiber separators completely absorb and trap the electrolyte for a spill-proof and leak-proof battery. Molded top and side connection terminals provide versatility, increased strength and durability.

Personally, I think you would be wise to take the battery with you and go to your favorite battery store. That way you and the salesperson can verify the size, post position, polarity, vent tube position, and anything else before you leave the store. Yes, you might pay a bit more in the brick-and-mortar store. Think of it as supporting local business. And if the battery fails soon after you get it, which has been known to happen, you have someone to whom you can easily return it.
