Title: So I caved to peer pressure and bought a v-twin ..
Post by dinsdale on 09/16/13 at 10:21:11

Well, it's a v-twin but not what most think of when they think V-twin.

Keeping the Savage as a back up and for my wife.

I like!!

I guess just a product of my time.. I love bikes from the 80's.. or at least most of them.

How many miles?

I guy is trying to trade a 1987 Yammy 500 Virago for $500 worth of rims to a buddy of mine. I said no... just to old to have any market (he would not be keeping it).

Wow! That looks to be in amazing condition for a 30 year old motorcycle. In fact in the photo it looks almost showroom new. Nice find!

It's got about 27000 miles and is in Mint , original condition.
Paid $2800 Cdn , a lot for a 30 year old bike but it is rare, only made for 2 years in Canada and not at all for the US market.

Rides like a dream.

More pics. What look like scratches are the Vinyl pieces shrinking due to age.

Nice looking bike!

I'll have to admit that in the past few months, I've been following CX's and Silverwings on my local Craigslist.  If I could justify a 2nd bike, I think I would pick one up, just for the cool factor.  From what I understand, they are pretty bulletproof rides.

The CX650 Custom was a one year model produced in 1983 for the US market. Its unique cruiser type styling sets it apart from all other CX variants. The frame is completely different, and the styling was marketed to accommodate the American desire for the low stretched look of American cruiser bikes. Its semi chopped fork, tear drop tank, low seat and truncated exhaust gave it a very rakish look. However, it was very similar in styling and price range to the 750 Shadow and Honda elected to have only one cruiser bike in that class, thus the reason for its short model life.

I rode one intending to buy it, but the bike was just too big and bulky.

The Savage suits me best of all bikes so far, and I have actually bought two other bikes trying to do better ....

It rides really nice, much taller and more top heavy but I'm 6' tall with a 32" inseam so it fits me perfect.
You ride it in a Sport Touring stance , in between standard and Sport.
Perfect for how I "want" to ride.
It has a good amount of torque and runs about 4000 rpm in 5th at 55 mph. Redline is 9000.

I still love the Savage for how light , nimble and torquey it is.
It is also set up with more protection from the elements so cold weather riding is better on it.

Very cool!

That Cafe is sweet looking.
If my bike wasn't in such mint condition, I'd be tempted to do something like that
