I replaced my battery yesterday with new one that I know is fully charged. When I installed the new one and turned the ignition key, there is NO power to anything. I checked the two 20amp fuses and they are good and all cables are in great shape (very clean 2008) , but what else could it be? If I accidentally bumped the screwdriver against the frame when tightening the battery bolts (has happened before and you get that little spark..) wouldn't these two fuses blow before it just fried the entire system. I am really confused and EXTREMELY frustrated.

I'm probably too late, but...
Don't charge your battery at 10 amps....

That's too much... never charge at higher than 2amps...

Volt ohm meter, check battery. Youonly KNOW what you can prove NOW.

A few suggestions:

Did you test the battery with a voltmeter. Good fully chaged battery should read between 12 and 13 volts. Even a weak battery should turn something on though.

Did you pull the fuses out of the holder and check them with an ohmmeter?

Take a look at the negative battery cable where it is bolted to the engine case near the attatchment for the clutch cable on the left had side of the bike.

When you turned on the key with the OLD battery hooked up did anything work. If so then it almost has to be your new battery is NG or you have a connection problem.

Double check the terminals on the new battery. I've seen batterys that look exactly like the correct ones, but that have the positions of the positive and negative terminals reversed.

Thanks all.

I read the instructions and switched it to 2 amps after a few minutes...thought that was too much and the charger told me so.

Let me note that when I say it was fully charged, that's what the guy at the parts store said...it was fully charged and ready to go (but I didn't see him check it). I don't have a meter, so I had to assume he was telling me right...I buy a lot from there and he's always been a good, honest guy.

After a few minutes of charging I hooked it back up and it had enough juice to turn on the headlight, so I knew I was almost in business. I took the battery back (AGM that is not supposed to go bad on the shelf as the say) and it turns out it was a bad battery. Just got home with a new one and it is installed and guess what...IT WORKS.

So... lesson learned folks...don't think you fried things and start pulling wires apart (I didn't) until you know absolutely for certain it isn't a bad battery.

HarborFreight has a V meter for about $5.00. I have one of those & a Micronta from RatShack Ive had since the 80's. I use the HF one on stuff thats either liable to blow the meter up or so simple I dont hafta have a real good one,,
