Title: Ever see this happen before? Post by Lucaisrussell on 09/09/13 at 09:37:24 So I'm tuning my bike trying to get the new mikuni 38mm vm to work. I get to a good stopping point and continue the next day. Before I go on I change the oil and filter. I start up the bike and hear this terrible rattling sound. I open up the primary cover to find the cam chain guide adjuster has come apart. What could have caused this? I did do a lot of starting and turning off the previous day while tuning. The oil change? No serious damage and after a visual inspection I'm just going to slap it all back together and it should work just fine. Oh and one of my header pipe flange bolts were missing. Any ideas? |

Post by verslagen1 on 09/09/13 at 09:41:09 yes, we have. http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1344399573 and that's one of the 1st things I'd check on a new2you savage. Luckily, you caught it in time with no damage. You either need to replace the chain or verslavy it. pay your fine, do not pass go. |
Title: Re: Ever see this happen before? Post by Serowbot on 09/09/13 at 09:42:54 Yup,.. we've seen that before... Your cam chain is stretched... Don't just put it back together,.. it will happen again... and could be bad... You need a Verslagen modded camchain adjuster... See in the marketplace... http://www.savageriders.com/verslagen/CamChainClub/fixed.jpg |
