Amazing, an 800 Intruder that does not look like a cartoon. Wonder what his outright price would be, Lisa could use another one, her Intruder has to go to Slopoki, I can't make heads or tails of its electrical gremlins.

his email to me: ( he should be in Baton Rouge)

I was about to list this for sale then saw your add about looking to trade your thunderbird, I've been looking for some cool restoration project for a while to slowly work on. I typed this out as a description for a sale add and just copied and pasting it here:

I have a 1995 Suzuki 1400 Intruder Bobber project for sale. It is a project but really all it needs is about a day to be completed. The bike has 24k miles on it, I picked this up about a month ago to build into a custom bike to drive everyday and it is about 90% done but I just do not have the time to finish it. I am in vet school and have class from 8-5 and spend my nights studying and don't want to see it sit. The bike runs great, is super powerful, and sounds awesome. I have every single thing needed to finish it.

What has been done/parts included:

Jardine drag pipes

Jardine drag handlebars

4" lowering rear struts (hard-tail)

Completely rebuilt both carbs, new jets, new diaphragms, shimmed coasting valves, etc.

Brand new $140 battery (bought 2 weeks ago)

New battery cable terminals

Metzeler ME880 Rear tire (500 miles on it, brand new matching front not installed yet)

Custom rear fender

Uncorked (removal of stock air boxes and replaced with 2 brand new K&N filters and manifold)

Carb has been properly jetted and setup for the exhaust/intake and should provide a TON more power than the factory bike

Gas tank completely stripped/cleaned by electrolysis and acid

Replaced all fuses

New spark plugs

New fuel filter

Brand new parts not yet installed, all still in package:

5" Black chrome handlebar risers and top clamp (still in wrapper)

Rear brake pads

1920s Ford Model A tail light (ultimate bobber tail light, looks sweet,)

Curved CNC machined tail light/license bracket for the model A tail light, black powdercoat (relocates it to hide it out of the way)

Metzeler ME880 Front tire (still in the wrapper)

Designer bobber grips (feel awesome and have the old school bobber look, I can't remember the brand off the top of my head but they are from one of the well known custom bike companies)

$50 worth of brand new Mobil-1 synthetic oil and filter

Variety of stainless steel bolts to replace factory ones to look better.

I have gone through everything mechanical on this bike, it is all in great condition and everything has been properly adjusted. Pretty much all that needs to be done is paint the gas tank/side panels/rear fender (can plasti-dip or matte black spray paint them for $20 and looks perfect for a bobber), have front tire installed, install tail light/license plate bracket (will take 5 minutes, put on new brake pads (15 minutes), and put on the new handlebar risers (10 minutes), and then reinstall a few pieces like the headlight (was going to paint it black to match the tank/fender, currently chrome). This is an easy finish it in one day project (well depending on how long you spend on painting).

I was planning on plasti dipping the headlight, rear fender, side panels, tank, for those of you that dont know what it is it is a rubber paint that sprays on and is durable and has a matte black finish (used on tons of bobbers and matte black bikes), it is super easy to apply just like spray paint and after it has hardened you can actually peel it off if you messed it up. It won't flake or peel off on it's own but you can get a corner of it lifted with a knife and peel it off just like a big vinyl sticker. It goes on smooth and looks professional. I will include the plasti dip that I was planning on using as well. You can also use flat black spray paint as well if you don't want to have it painted professionally.

These bikes hold their value really well and sell for between $3-5k in original (looks like every other cruiser on the road) condition. The blue book is $3k. These bikes can go over 100k miles easily, I spoke to an expert on them online who said 24k miles is just now broken in. There is a huge online club with every bit of info and parts you could imagine called IntruderAlert.com.

I have spent a lot of time and money on all these parts and this bike will be worth $4-5k when completed. New tires were $500, tail light/bracket $160, struts $100, handlebar risers $120, Jardine exhaust $400, handlebars $90, all new jets/diaphragms/carb parts for rebuild $220, grips $30, battery $140, etc. There is over $1800 in new/aftermarket parts.

I bought this bike for myself a few months ago, it was well maintained by the previous owner, he installed the Jardine drag pipes and bars and they are around a year old but in great shape. I am a mechanic (not by trade but been building custom cars/bikes since I was 12) and inspected every inch of it and the fluid condition/bearings/etc very closely before I bought it and have gone through everything again since then. Nothing has been skipped or cheaped out on as when I build something for myself I don't cut any corners. I planned to have a finished custom bobber to cruise around by the time class started and did not get finished in time and probably won't have time to until this winter so I am offering it over to someone else, like I said I called it a "project" but it can be easily finished over a weekend (I don't even have a single free day for the next 2 months).

There is nothing left to do that any person can't do even if you've never touched a motorcycle or anything mechanical before, all the hard work has been done. It's pretty much just paint and bolting on a few parts. I also have a full digital copy of the service manual which gives step by step instructions/pictures on how to do everything ever needed on this bike from changing the oil to a full engine rebuild. I will even show you how to do everything that's left to be done on it before you buy it as well.

If anyone is interested I can go take some pictures of it or you can come look at it yourself. I know this is long but I am trying to be as completely detailed and honest about everything on this bike as I can.

Nice lookng bike, but I have never understood how taking parts off the bike and painting flat black should increase value.

"This is an easy finish it in one day project "

He doesn't have one day to do that and increase the sale price by $2,000 ??? :-?

Has a radiator, it's an 800. 1400 had a little bitty high mount air-oil intercooler.

If he doesn't know the difference, no thanks.
