So I explained that on Labor day I "re-did" the muffler, it being loose as well as the manifold being loose. Today was the first commute to work, so my observations:

A loose muffler ( very heavy) may/will loosen and or strain the exhaust pipe.
The two, as they loosen, will cause further loosing of both.
A loose exhaust system:
makes the bike run poorly, notably loss of power.
Causes/increases pops during riding
Causes/increases afterfire pops
Causes your boot to get rather hot
Causes your bike to sound like its always farting
Removes the deep thoaty sound from the exhaust
Causes the exhaust pipe to turn gold just ahead of the muffler
Causes the bike to sound like it has loose "shackles"

Well worth the effort to tighten that all up.
