Title: Transmission fluid
Post by ylwf3vr on 08/31/13 at 10:32:17

Tried searching only came up with 2 results.. When should I change the transmission fluid and start worrying about transmission/clutch? I made mistake before I have 8900 miles.

You don't have any transmission fluid... the tranny runs in the engine oil...

Change your oil every 2 to 3 thousand miles...

Gee Serow, we could have had some laughs (at the newbie's expense)  first...  :)

And don't forget the semi-annual air change for the tires. Old air loses its "spring."

I did learn about a stamp on tires that show week/year (wk/yy) that the tire was manufacturered. I thought all were new but it may have sat on the shelf for years... Front was (43/11) and back was (40/10) so kinda old.

I used to work on the ramp for a regional airline and they were notorious for messing with the newbies. We'd make them request the keys to the plane at the end of the night, call maintenance for a replacement muffler bearing, and stuff like that. It was all fun and games until they had a newb try to get an exhaust sample. Next thing you know he was up on a ladder with a black garbage bag holding on for dear life. It was shortly after that one we started having surprise inspections from our safety dept.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but if I do my semiannual air change above 3,000ft, I run the risk of blowing up at sea level.

Not as long as you still have the stock air compensator valves...  ::)...

Hey, I'm a newbie here, but don't forget to check the headlight fluid. :)

The headlight on the LS650-F has Fluid.
The LS650-P is Pneumatic.

Don't forget to grease the muffler bearings and also check the blinker fluid levels along with the coolant level check  ;D Oh almost forgot, check the reverse light too
