Are you still running the stock vacuum petcock?

If there's gas in the bowl, there should be at least some gas getting into the cylinder if the jets aren't stopped up. Might not be enough to make it fun but should at least make it sputter a couple of times.

The plug generally shouldn't be wet unless the engine is flooded. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Tried it with the petcock on prime?

Sure it's firing?

i gave it a heavy shot of ether and it did pop pretty good so it must be the carb needs a good cleaning.

What jets would be plugged if your not getting any gas to the engine? with the choke pulled and spark to the plug its not even trying to fire. like i said before it died going down the freeway like it ran out of gas. Its got me stumped.

Are the vents clear?

Sounds to me like not a HOT enough spark, haven't you guys always said test the volts first? If starter spray ain't makin' it pop, then i'd say the spark ain't hot enough.
But i'm not a guru on the 650, so i'll leave it up to the pro's.....
