Title: Blind spot mirrors?
Post by terpfan1980 on 08/17/13 at 12:11:23

Anyone have some recommendations on blind spot mirrors that can added to the stock mirrors on an LS650?

Turn your head & KNOW,, mirrors vibrate too much to depend on 100%.

I'm not so much hoping to rely on the mirrors 100% of the time, I'm more hoping to save the effort of turning my head and also avoid the possibility that while my head was turned the chucklehead in front of me chooses that exact moment to stop suddenly and have me parking my bike up their rear.

:p

I understand the thought about the mirror vibration though.  Honestly, what I'm more looking for is to put an additional mirror in place that might show me more of what is directly behind me.  I keep the mirrors  (stock mirrors) adjusted to show me more of what is on either side of me, but I do try to be aware of what is behind me as well.  If someone is coming up on me too quickly and I need to move, I'd like to know that in advance rather than finding out after I'm planted on the pavement. :(

Then go to the auto parts store & see what ya can find,,
If I was real serious about it, Id problee cut a piece of mirror & mount it on a wedge & put it as far outboard as I could,

Honestly, unless you are very short and rail thin, the stock mirrors are best used as trading fodder. Long stem mirrors are not that expensive, especially if you can tolerate "craptastic", meaning Emgo. Black stem, black round heads. You need the 10mm version, non-Yamaha (because Yamaha was smart and has one mirror reverse threaded so wind pressure doesn't move it, unlike the other metric Big 3).

Something like these on my Vulcan 800A work great, and the set should run about $20. Look like something the cat yakked up, but...

Still miss that bike. Handled like the Savage, launched like a 41 Willys gasser...
