Title: Correct me if I'm wrong
Post by PhantomII on 08/16/13 at 10:56:45

I pulled my spark plug today after over 1000 miles riding and from the looks of it I think my motor is running lean, can someone confirm this by looking at the picture.

Thanks

Another pic with your light source on the camera side, looking down at the plug would provide a more clear view; but with what can be seen on this pic I don't see lean.  There is a medium brown look to the insulator and dark color to the curved electrode.
A lean condition would show an extremely light tan to white-like color.

I'd say that's a tad lean.

Well I just got back from my ride after installing a K&N filter and an after market muffler and changing the jets to a 150 main, pilot 55, and 2 metal washers for the needle and 1 turn out on the mixture screw.  Holy crap what a difference now, this thing really gets up to speed it hit 80 before I even knew it and it pulls way down low too.  I am still a little lean on the main jet but it's hardly worth worrying about and it doesn't backfire or pop even when I shut down.  Thanks for the help everybody.
