Title: Meet Buster... My new son... Post by kimchris1 on 08/11/13 at 17:24:51 Ok everyone, here he is.. This is my new son, Buster.. Isn't he cute, or handsome? He makes me smile and laugh each time I look at him. He has this cute little underr bite, it makes it look as if he is grinning all the time. I found Buster, which was not his name at the time, at the local humane society. I wasn't going to get another dog after losing John Wayne, then again I felt I could give another dog a nice home, plenty of love and years of happiness. I knew another large dog wasn't what I wanted, so therefore I decided to concentrate on the smaller breeds. Buster or Sonny as he was called there, caught my attention right away. Also the fact that he is approximately 7 years old. The older ones at times get overlooked for the younger ones. I asked to spend one on one time with him. Paperwork was done, we had our meet and greet. That went very well.. Lost of hugs and kisses from both.. :-* :-* :-* :-* I couldn't bring him home that day as was later in the day when I had gone there and they wanted us to bring our Doxie, Oscar over to see how well the 2 did with a meet and greet. So the next day (Sat) we took Oscar over and all went well with that as well. We had to be careful as Oscar is blind and being both were males their was a chance the meet might not go well. No chance of that, both guys seemed to like one another right away.. :D Then they tell me that Sonny (Buster) can't come home that day as he was not neutered.. >:( So being the next day was Sunday, it meant possibly on Monday he could come home.. So on Sunday I rode the bike back over and spent a couple hours with him. I wanted him to have some reassurance that he was coming to his "forever home" soon. Oh and on his kennel it said adoption pending. So Monday after working all night, I cleaned house and at noon got the call, Buster was ready and I could pick him up that afternoon.. :D :D :D :D I went and bought him, new leash, collar, harness, blanket and bed. Oh also a name tag. They had micro chipped him as well as given him his first set of shots. Being he had been a stray, no knowledge of shot history. Flea treatment given, oh and yeah, neutered. His adoption fee was $50. I gave them $70. A little donation never hurts.. We have had lots of laughs and many hours of enjoyment. He loves to go for walks and is a fast walker. That suits me just fine. :) I miss John Wayne daily and still have tears now and then. When that happens, I cuddle Buster and his kisses help me thru that difficult moment. I know John Wayne would approve and is happy I have another companion that protects me.. ;) Well as much as he can. He is only 13 lbs and is a Pug cross. At times the living room looks like their are a couple of 2 legged kids instead of a 4 legged on as Buster scatters the toys all over. He loves to play fetch and is even crate trained. Now if we can get him to stop chasing Charlie the cat.. http://p1.bikepics.com/2013/08/11/bikepics-2586384-800.jpg |

My dog, Sandy, a 12 year old Borzoi mix we rescued when she was a pup, passed on while I was deployed. When I move back to the mainland I will find another "man's best friend" to pal around with! |

Post by verslagen1 on 08/11/13 at 21:24:45 Cheese :) congrats kim & oscar hopefully they'll look out for each other. and he'll stop chasing the minute the cat stops running. mom's dogs still chase the cat, but they play together wrestle or run... it's all in fun. |

Title: Re: Meet Buster... My new son... Post by kimchris1 on 08/14/13 at 11:08:27 Thanks and I tell Charlie the cat, stop running and Buster will stop chasing you..Does he listen? Not yet.. Then again this a.m. Charlie the cat has been coming back after Buster chased him a couple times and stalked Buster. Kids... Well again, never a dull moment.. Hugs and if anyone is in need of a pet, please give a thought to adopting. Their are nice animals in need of "forever homes". Buster has been a blessing, well ok so Charlie might disagree. ;) kim |

Title: Re: Meet Buster... My new son... Post by kimchris1 on 08/17/13 at 11:23:43 Thanks Piglet, nice to hear from you.. Yeah and in fact the B-day is today... Weeeeee oh yeah, another year older and another wrinkle. :) Buster and I had a nice, long walk this a.m. He is a little tired. When he was introduced to Genie my bike, he thought the tires needed watered.. Well of course he was told NOOOO.. That was all it took and now he just looks at her and goes on his way..:) kim |
