Post by Pine on 08/10/13 at 18:57:10

So I put on those front pads..

YEAH: the squeal is nearly gone

ummm huh?: these dont have near the friction of the original pads. lots more squeezing to get the same results

Yes, they take some extra pressure even after you get them seated all the way (which takes a month, BTW).

I have EBC's & I can make my front tire chirp W/O serious White KNuckle on the brake lever. I think I could make it slide, but,,thats an experiment that fails, even if it succeeds, because Nothing turns gravity on any faster than a front tire thats Not Rolling,

Did you remember to sand the news pads and the disc? If not, they suck.

You need to break the glaze on the rotor, not a big deal. Staple some 100 grit sandpaper to a piece of 1x2 or 2x2 scrap, sand where the pads clamp in an X pattern. Both sides of the rotor, just go gently, when you see the rotor getting hazy instead of shiny, stop. Switch to the pad surfaces, lightly, and I mean lightly, sand them. Brake pads can get a surface "funk", for lack of a better term, while sitting around in the package. It's a normal byproduct, it's just excess adhesive residue outgassing. Break the shine, and they'll bite in a lot better. No need to even pull the pads, just pop the caliper off, insert the paper and scuff them up a hair. Or do just the rotor swept surfaces, the sanding on it will speed up bedding in the pads.
