Title: Sold the 2006 S40 Today
Post by Nailz on 07/29/13 at 15:46:07

I bought this for my wife.  She loved it.  She was previously riding a 2007 Virago / V Star 250 which is up for sale on CL.  The S40 I bought was a little rough but I smoothed it out and bought a few parts on this site, E-bay, and Rocky Mountain ATV.  I sold it for more than I had into it, and the buyer got a good deal (new tires and tubes, fresh oil change and filter, worked on the baffle in Jardine exhaust to sound sweet, etc...).

The bike runs excellent and he was happy and so was I.  Mommy wants a real shiny bike so I'm in the market!

I'm looking at this one:

And at a price of $4,399 I think it's a winner.

Here are a few pics of the S40 I sold today.

So does this sound like a good deal on a new S40?

Oh, it had 10K miles on it also.  But the engine sounded like butter on a hot Georgia afternoon.  I was really impressed with the torque and the Jardine.  With the right mods to the baffle, it really sounded good.

Just out of curiosity, what is the benefit to swapping the 2006 for a 2013? The paint job on the 2013 does look nice, I'll grant you that.

My wife wants a new and shiny bike.  The pics I put up do not show the real deal.  The 2006 was a nice bike, but up close it had some paint and chrome flaws.  No worries, There is a new S40 owner and I am in the market for another one.  +2 for the crew!

If it were me, I would have rode the 2006 until the cam chain went!

A dealer near me has two 2013s One the same color as the one you're looking at, and one orange and black. Sticker on both is $5,199. I've got no idea how much dealing he would do but I doubt that he'd knock more than $800 off what's pretty close to the cheapest new bike in his store.

So $4,399 would be a pretty good deal aroud here I think.

I am a motorcycle junky.  I buy a bike I have never had off of CL but want to know what the deal is with the bike.  I work on it to make it sweet through all the low cost avenues available on the Internet.  I ride it for about 10K miles. and sell it so I can buy another one.

Man, I love CL!!!

i am looking for a deal.  I always do.  If you have some cash stashed you can get a good deal if you are patient.  I have done quite a few deals and as long as the seller is happy and you are happy, it is all good!
