Title: Flames
Post by swedishbiker on 07/29/13 at 07:18:43

I have always been a flame fan. I found a picture of a HD, I copy the tank to my bike, close enough in design :)
What paint can be used on the original paint? I don't need to make a new paint yet, it's still good. Just put on flames.

I am not sure what kind of paint you have available in Sweden.....but the stock paint is a base coat/clear coat system using a catalyzed paint.  You can probaby use any paint over the top without any problems.  You will have to scuff up the clear coat to remove the gloss wherever you want the new paint to adhere properly and not peel.

I should have write that I have been a car painter in younger years. But that back in 1980 s.
But the paint today is not the same stuff back then :)
Bike's from 1993, so it may have paint that is alike those I did use.

I found that I have 3x1 liter Permacron that is still good :) but no hardener :( maybe I can get that still.  If o, I can paint the bike many times :)
So need some spray color  for the flames.
