Looks a lot better in print than in person. Not very comfortable. The aluminum heat shielding really looks like a tacky add on when you see it up close, so imagine it blacked out (it helps). Tank seam is as crappy looking as on any other metric, the factory yet again skipped the extra step to roll the seam under.

It has potential, but accessories are phenomenally high. It costs over $800 to swap the ugly alloy wheels for spoke versions...  :o

Unlike WD, I prefer the alloy wheels if for no other reason they can run tubeless tires. Appearance is personal; what one likes another doesn't. I also believe the alloy wheels would be lighter than the steel rims and spokes.

When I sat on a Bolt at the dealership, the rear (left) cylinder head hit the inside of my left knee and the air intake hit my right knee. Ain't no amount of "style" gonna make up for discomfort.

Not to mention leg burns... :-?...

Actually, Yamaha installed a wire guard, spaced about a quarter inch away from the head. It isn't as blatant as a heat shield, and it is the part that hit my leg. I have to guess their test riders noticed a bit of warmth.

For the extra $9 in price, buy an 883 Iron and be done with it. Easier to work on, phenomenal aftermarket support, holds a lot higher percentage of its value if you get bored and want to switch to another bike.

My local dealership has a white Bolt and an O.D. Green R-spec. Far as he is concerned they can sit there until they rot. He does a tolerable trade in selling used bikes, but his shiny new bikes don't sell. He has a 2009 Roadstar 1600, never ridden, on the floor at $9500 out the door... There is also a brand new V-Star 650 from the mid-00s, for less than $6K out the door...

It's a nice looking bike with some cool styling which is mainly geared towards the hipster crowd that doesn't want the branding of HD.  I really like the aesthetics of the Bolt a lot, that being said it's like looking at some chicks on the beach from the boardwalk....... Good from far, but far from good   :o   I was very disappointed with the fit and finish after really scrutinizing the bike up close and personal, not to say that it was flat out horrendous like a domestic market Royal Enfield LOL!!!!   But for the price I would take WD's advice and get a Sporty for sure   ;)

Has anyone read any reviews by bike magazines on the Bolt yet?

There are some reviews out there. Just search for something like "yamaha star bolt review" and you'll find them. This one http://motorcycles.about.com/od/yamahastarmotorcycles/ss/2014-Star-Motorcycles-Bolt-Review-Can-The-New-Kid-On-The-Block-Beat-Harley.htm mentions the cylinder and air intake touching his leg, as I noticed.

Should have said something while you were here and had the trailer behind your truck. Millington has at least 2 in stock.
