Title: motorcycle porn questions
Post by strang on 07/25/13 at 13:44:13

Been browsing motorcycle pics a lot lately and have recently been liking bratstyle saki racer types like this one.
What size wheel combination you recon it's running?
I normally go for more cafe/triumph same wheels front and back but i like the difference in wheel size on this one.
At a guess I'd say 16" back and 19" front?

Thats a study in incongruency, IMO,, Why go to such lengths to build a sleek, nimble lookin little bike & then load it down visually AND in its handling characteristics with big, fat tires? Cool tires, cool bike, they just dont belong together, IMO,.

Agreed, one sharp smooth bike, with a goofy looking front tire.  :P

I hear what you guys are saying but your wrong.  :P
I think the Japanese custom bike people (ie. gravel crew and ilk) are going for this Harley (USA) + Triumph (Brit) = Japanese hybrid. The fact it looks goofy IS the point. I remember when I was a kid and drawing motorcycles and I recon I probably drew bikes with these goofy dimensions and that to me is kind of cool.

MMMmkay, dude,, I get it, almost, in a kinda sorta way,, I got no problem really with the wheel diameter, I dont think,, Id need to see it, but Id want a skinny front tire. I want my bike to handle as quick & light as possible, & that bike has been trimmed down,, looks inviting, Of course. mine would have  fenders,,

Looks kind of BAGGER like.....without the bags or fairings.  The Baggers are putting on really big diameter front tires.

Everyone has their own likes.........but the big fat front tire is not porn for me!

I like it. The rear tire needs to  look more aggressive though. it would be perfect for unpaved roads. skinny tires with street tread don't work as well in that environment.

Can't even tell what that one started out as... but I like it other than the lightning bolt Firestone type front tire.

Double stripe white wall is most likely a 16", very hard to find in anything beyond MT90-16 (130/90-19).

Reminds me of "S**tbox the Super Junker", my 1963 Honda Scrambler turned TT turned street bike project...

Which will be finished more like the one below...

nice cartoon bikes WD
and I mean that lovingly  :)
off track but WD I think I found a tank that will fit the savage easily - the 70s era triumph t140 tanks. Sometimes called "breadbin" tanks. Really wide tunnel, about 3.3'. Arrived this morning so will check it out this weekend.

T140 tank? Take a lot of pics of the fit up process, especially if the rear underbelly needs to be bashed in for frame rail clearance. That separation should have been made about the middle of the seat instead of under the tank.
