Title: YAY! And help...
Post by Single_Spark on 07/22/13 at 21:45:58

I finally got to ride today! It's been a long road, but I could not have gotten thus bike running without the help of everyone on this board. Thank you all for your expertise and knowledge about this bike!

Now for a question: is it normal for the Savage to move forward in 1st gear with the clutch lever pulled all the way in? I switched to the longest  pushrod and got a new clutch cable, and there is about 3mm gap of  freeplay on the lever itself before the lever begins to feel like it's releasing friction. Normal, or do I need to do some adjusting of the cable?

normal, especially when cold.
when warm, will probably go away.

where's the clutch lever compared to the lines on the case?

It's right in the middle when relaxed. I rode around in a parking lot for about a half hour in 1st gear only. I didn't even have to let the clutch out to go around about 5-10 mph.

That,.. ain't normal on any bike...
It's normal to feel it lurch forward a few inches when cold and clicked into gear,.. but, clutch in,.. the bike should be able to remain stopped...

If your hand is off the clutch lever, does it come out all the way?
